Alopiidae or thresher sharks make the dive more interesting and memorable. They are nocturnal (night creatures) with a big eye that helps them see during nighttime to hunt for food. They live in the depth of tropical waters and not be seen anywhere and that makes Malapascua Island Diveworthy and stands among other diving sites all over the world.
Sadly, that the numbers of Thresher Sharks is like other species that their population continues declining in numbers due to over fishing for their fins, tails and meat. Dynamite fishing that destroys marine ecosystem. Recently local government declared the areas as a marine sanctuary to protect and maintain the marine ecosystem and sea creatures.
At present Malapascua Island, Daan Bantayan, Cebu, Philippines is the primary destination of all the divers and adventure seekers who want to view Thresher Sharks and observe their behavior. Malapascua Island is the only place in the world where you can see thresher sharks everyday.
