The visiting Boston Celtics played without their Big Three players (Kevin Garnet, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen) but their supporting cast played well to beat host Charlotte Bobcats 94-82 Sunday game at Time Warner Cable Arena.
“When somebody is out we have a group of guys who will step up. Tonight it was me and Avery, but with this team it could be anybody. We got a veteran group. We’ve got leaders who make us comfortable, confident and encourage us.” Brandon Bass of Boston Celtics.
Boston Celtics sensational point guard Rajon Rondo played a key role to defeat the host Charlotte Bobcats with his 20 points and make 16 assists. It was the 22nd consecutive game in which Boston All-Star player Rajon Rondo has reached double figures in assists. Rondo joins with two other Hall of Famer John Stockton and Magic Johnson who makes double-digit assists in 20-straight games.
Good enough that Rajon Rondo, Avery Bradley and Brandon Bass scored double digits for Boston Celtics and to wrap the absence of their Big Three. It was the first game of Boston Celtics without Ray Allen, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett since the trio was put together prior to 2007-08 NBA season.
“It was a terrific win. When you don’t play those guys (Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett & Paul Pierce) you’re missing in essence 60 points. We had to get those points from other players and we did that tonight. Rajon (Rondo) and Avery (Bradley) and Brandon (Bass) stepped us for tonight on the offensive end. It was a great team win and makes everyone in that locker room feel good about themselves and realize what they mean to this team.”Boston head coach Doc Rivers.
