Metta World Peace was suspended for seven games as punishment for elbowing James Harden of the visiting Oklahoma Thunder Sunday games. The incident happens late in the first half of the game when Metta World Peace got a fast break dunk over two Oklahoma defenders.

Though, Metta World Peace claimed the elbow was unintentional, but replays show in a different way. They both miss the game after the incident, game officials gave Metta World Peace a flagrant-2 foul and was ejected while James Harden did not return after set off to locker room for medical check-up.

The seven games suspension for Metta World Peace was based on the outcome and posed serious threat to other players too, also the injury suffered by James Harden.

 “The concussion suffered by James Harden demonstrates the danger posed by violent acts of this kind, particularly when they are directed at the head area,” NBA commissioner David Stern.

“We remain committed to taking necessary measures to protect the safety of NBA players, including the imposition of appropriate penalties for players with history of on-court alternations.”

Los Angeles Lakers accepted the league’s seven games suspension for Metta World Peace, Lakers concede on the facts that his actions was not tolerable, for the reason that it posed danger and can injured players seriously.

His actions could have seriously injured another player, and his absence during the suspension will hurt our team as well,”Lakers General Manager Mitch Kupchak said.

“While we accept the league’s decision, we will be supportive of Metta and try to help him be more professional on the court.”
